E-Government (Electronic Government) is the using of electronic devices and information system to provide some information or public service for citizen about the government. The government uses web-based telecommunication in electronic government. There are 5 models of E-Government, between citizen to government (C2G), between government to others government agencies (G2G), between government and citizens (G2C), between government and employees (G2E), and between and business (G2B).
By implementing E-Government, there will be so many advantages for both governance and citizen, there are:
1. Enhanced the service quality for the citizens. The information is provided 7 days and 24 hours on the website. So, the citizens can access the information from everywhere and every time.
2. The implementation of E-Government can be more effective. Because to coordinate with each other they can use the technology such as e-mail.
3. Government transparency is very important because citizens can be informed about what the government is working on. Therefore, hopefully, the relation between the government and the society will be better.
4. E-Government also gives contribution in economy policies. It can reduce the possibility of corruption because of the transparency. It will increase citizens trust to the government.
Besides advantages, every single program also has disadvantages or threat. Here some disadvantages by implementing E-Government:
1. There is a possibility the system will be hacked. Recently, one of our government situs (KPU) has been hacked.
2. Inaccessibility. Not all of the citizens can access the internet, especially who lives at a remote area. Because of low literacy levels, and poverty.
We realize that every program always has its advantages and disadvantages. However, we should see which is has more impact, the advantages or the disadvantages of implementing the E-Governance. Overall, implementing E-Governance gives more advantages than disadvantages for the citizens.
